On January 31, Mercedes-Benz answered that question, unveiling its complementary AMG GLE43 SUV, the ninth model in the AMG 43 line and bespeaking a performance turn in the SUV market bound to remain memorable.
An AMG-enhanced 3.0L V6 biturbo powertrain, up to 362 horsepower and up to 384 lb-ft of torque, a spacious five-passenger design – these were just the tip of a high-powered iceberg. Add in GLE43's AMG-enhanced 9G-TRONIC 9-speed automatic transmission and AMG Performance 4MATIC® all-wheel drive, as well as tuned steering and like-named braking and sport suspension, and one can see how GLE43 brings precision handling to boot. So why not personalize the handling experience, too? Mercedes-Benz delivered on this with its AMG Dynamic Select System, comprised of selectable modes, from Comfort, Sport, Sport+ to Individual and Slippery, making it easy to adjust suspension stiffness, shift points, throttle mapping and idle speed to suit terrain and feel underfoot.
Behind the rear seats, the SUV's a showcase of capacity for hauling luggage on long trips, with up to 38.2 cu. ft. of cargo space (up to 80.3 cu-ft with seats lowered), and a standard power lift gate quick makes the space a snap to access.
