It’s hard to think of a cooler job than photographing vintage cars. Amy Shore does amazing work, and it’s clear she appreciates the splendor of a beautifully maintained or restored classic vehicle. We think that some of her success comes from her eagerness to hear every car’s story.
While Shore perfectly captures the beauty of a great car on its own, she recognizes that a car doesn’t truly come alive without its owner, and that “life” reaches beyond just needing someone to turn the key. Even the most stunning work of automotive craft, like the Mercedes-AMG GT coupe, has no stories of its own, no character, until it has been driven and loved and understood.
The Mercedes-Benz 230 SL Pagoda in this video was born in the mid-sixties, and it surely has some tales to tell. Shore has a real talent for portraiture, as pertains to both human and automobile. You can learn a lot about a person by getting to know their car, and vice versa.
